If you are planning to setup a home theater system, it is extremely important to remember that the projection screen is an equally important component of the entire system to guarantee an enjoyable viewing experience. It is, therefore, recommended that you do a thorough research on the various available options before finalizing a projection screen for your home theater system.

Fixed projection screens

Permanent or fixed projection screens are generally seen in cinema halls or homes where a room has been designated as a dedicated home theater room, which means that unlike pull-down screens, the fixed projector screens cannot be retracted.

Building a fixed projector screen

Making a fixed projector screen at home is not as difficult as you might think.

Building the Frame: The first step in designing your own fixed projector screen is to make a frame that will support the fixed projector screen’s fabric.

There are thousands of home electronic products in the market but the Panasonic SC-BTT770 5.1 Channel 3D Blu-ray Cinema Surround Home Entertainment System has a lot more to offer compared to others.

Clear sound digital amplifier – This feature makes the sound become more realistic than the original sound. The wireless rear speakers work fine with no interference whatsoever.

Planning The Best Home Theater System For a Dedicated Room

With so many new technologies becoming available for entertainment, it is no wonder that so many people are starting to dedicate an entire room in their home for a theater system. Putting together an entire system from single units is often a tedious task for anyone, but there are some tips that can be followed to simplify the process. Planning the best home theater system can still take some time, but it is well worth it in the end. By turning an entire room into a theater, movies and high definition television shows can be viewed better than ever before. While recreating the movie theater experience, a home theater is much more convenient and can be a great improvement to add to any home.

There are many components that can be used to set up the dedicated room home theater system. When making the plans, it is important to include a projector screen or high definition television, a Blu-ray player, and a surround audio system. For those who are not wanting to do the research to locate the individual components, there are home theater in a box products that will included everything that is needed to get started. While DVD players were once the popular choice, Blu-ray has quickly become the best choice because of the superb quality picture that is offered. The best home theater system for you may be a home theater in a box system that incorporates Blu-ray, wireless speakers, and streaming media from Netflix and Pandora.

Proper research will play an enormous role in selecting the right equipment for your needs, so it is important to read everything you can find on the products, including some reviews. In order to make the theatrical experience at home better than going to the movies, it is essential to incorporate a large screen television that is at least 27 inches across. Four or more speakers located around the room will give the surround sound experience that will allow the movies you watch to be even more dramatic.

Sound is the key “wow” factor for any theater system. I’m sure that you’ve gone to theaters where they demonstrate the power of the sound system just before the movie starts. Unfortunately many home enthusiast fail to place the proper emphasis on sound and become dissapointed at the performance of their own. It is probably the component of the system where you can least afford to economize.

When setting up the dedicated room, it is important to keep in mind that the room will need to be enclosed, just like a movie theater, for the best sound quality. Arranging the components within the room will mostly depend on the size and layout of the room. By placing the screen on one wall and using the speakers all around, the room will closely resemble a movie theater. While the best home theater system will often cost a large amount of money, there are many choices to make that can keep the cost under a tight budget.

There are several components to home theater equipment, each working together to provide a viewing experience as good as in a movie theater. The home theater equipment that you will need include a television or screen, sound system, DVD player and a receiver.

The receiver is the home theater equipment that picks up the signal of your cable or satellite TV as well as radio frequencies. It is also through the receiver that you connect the different home theater equipment that you have so you want to look for one that has several inputs for various auxiliary devices. In addition, choose a receiver with the option to control the speaker channels if you want to pipe music throughout your home.

The next home theater equipment to consider is the television. Usually, this takes the largest share of the budget. Decide beforehand how much you are willing to spend for the TV because with all the great options in the market, you might be tempted to spend more. Your choices in television would include the standard CRT model, a flat screen, an LCD, and a plasma TV. Another option is to use a home theater projector, which of course requires a projector screen.

Aside from your budget, the home theater room would also be a factor in choosing a television. You would want to make sure that your TV will fit the size of the room – not too big and too small. Likewise, the room’s shape should also be considered. Choosing the right size of the screen is critical to your viewing pleasure.

After shopping for a TV, your next stop is the DVD player section. You can get one as cheap as $40 dollars but just make sure it has the features and the quality that you want. DVD players play CDs so there is no need for you to worry about getting a separate CD player but it does not work the other way around. One feature to look for in a DVD player is if it can handle DIVx format so you can watch videos and movies you have downloaded online.

Lastly, your home theater equipment would only be complete with the right sound system. The speakers are integral to the whole viewing experience. You want to produce surround sound just like in a movie theater and you can only achieve this if you have five speakers at least – three front speakers and two at the back or at the seating area.

Each of the components of your home theater system has a specific function and they work together to produce a complete visual and auditory experience bringing you into the movie. However, this desired effect would only be achieved depending on the quality of the home theater equipment that you purchase along with proper installation.

By: Milos Pesic

A home theater room shouldn’t be set up as you normally would lay out a average den, it requires its own unique agenda if you hope to get that magical experience from each surround sound phenomenon you view and hear on your TV screen. Did you know that there are a handful of straight forward things you can do tonight to make the most of the audio and video of of your TV shows you are watching? The more of these that you can start right now… the bigger the superiority of the sound and picture of your existing system.

Number one: Set your room up as close as possible to the way a movie house is laid out. What do I mean? If you recall, all movie seats point toward the projector screen. There are no caddy corner or angled seats in a movie theater, are there? Have you thought about to reorganize your sofas and recliners to give you a perfect view of the TV?

Number two: Do not put your speakers on the floor! Did you know that the floor and carpeting will silence the quality of sound from your speakers. You would not believe how many people still leave their speakers on the floors! What can you do instead? Use speaker brackets or stick them on a bookshelf. In a perfect environment the speakers should be located just a few feet over your head. Just using this one suggestion will make a large difference.

Number Three: Your goal is to keep your front left and right satellites proportionally arranged on either side of your plasma TV. The center channel speakers should be placed either above or below your plasma. What about the rear speakers? The rear channel speakers should always be placed in the rear of your comfy chairs whether on the walls or in the ceiling. Do you have hard wood floors? Carpeting will add to the quality of your sound as well.

Number 4: Lighting. Think about this, the more light in the room… the more your video quality will be effected. Would you be interested in some ideas to combat this? You must be able to control the interior and the exterior lighting of the room. So first shut off all lights during your movie watching. Some remote controls can even close the lights automatically when the movie begins. Can you imagine that!

What can you do with exterior sunlight? Tyr using room darkening shades or heavy curtains that can be used to be closed over the windows while watching your favorite movie. If you do nothing else remember this… the darker your room the better. Some families even keep a flashlight handy to use for the bathroom breaks!

I told you that you don’t have to spend any money to get a better experience from your current surround sound set up.

Why not try some of these home theater room suggestions the next time your family sits down to watch a movie? I believe you will notice a amazing difference in your home theater experience.

By: F Cheshire

The main purpose of every home theater is to have the big movie experience in the comfort of your own home. Since much of your viewing will be with the lights dimmed or off, you may ask yourself why the rooms color scheme is considered to be so important. There are basically two aspects of wall paint that we must consider; the paints finish and its color.

When painting your home theater, you should use good quality paint with a flat finish from a reputable manufacturer. Paints are available in a few different finishes; flat, satin (or egg-shell), semi-gloss, and gloss. These determine the paints level of light reflectivity. Flat and satin finishes don’t wear quite as easily as gloss but they’re the best choices for home theaters because they don’t reflect much light.

Never use gloss or semi-gloss paint anywhere in your home theater. Not on the walls, not on the doors, not even the trim. Why? Because glossy paint reflects light. Lots of it. When you’re looking at dry paint near a source of light, if you can see a brighter area that’s shiny, then that’s already too much light reflection. But what does it matter if the lights are out? With the lights out, the light coming from the television or projector screen will bounce off the walls and light up your room like crazy.

An overly bright room will adversely affect the performance of a rear-projection television, and absolutely kill the performance of even the most expensive consumer front-projectors. Light from a brightly lit scene will spill into the room, bounce off any lightly colored or glossy walls, and then back onto the screen reducing the screens contrast. The result is less detail for you and your audience.

The solution is to use a darker color for your walls; something neutral like browns, dark tans, or black. Don’t worry too much about painting your walls a darker color — you’re not going to end up with a cave. Whatever furniture you put into your theater, the lighting you use, and wall treatments you hang will help to balance out the room when it’s finished. My family room is painted a nice caramel color, and the walls around and soffit above the projector screen are a nice chocolate brown. A tan carpet and recessed lighting shining down make the place look really comfortable. Wall papers are fine too. Just be sure to bring a sample home with you, tack it to the wall and shine a bright light on it at an angle. If it reflects any light, keep shopping.

I want to stress that you should stick with darker, neutral colors. Dark red or blue, for example, are a no-no because they will still shed some light. You’ll end up with a slightly tinted red or blue screen image. Most onscreen colors won’t be affected too much and you will get used to it after a while, but you can kiss pure white goodbye. Wasn’t the point of spending a lot of money on a good projector to get a great image?

Now I mentioned black earlier. Who wants to paint the walls of their family room completely black? Even dedicated home theaters owners shy away from pure black because they want a theater that has some style to it and completely black walls make a room hard to decorate. Black has its place in many home theaters (like the walls around the screen) and can add a classy feel.

So to recap, stick with a paint that has a flat or satin finish. Stay away from bright colors and learn to love neutral, darker ones. Don’t be worried that you won’t like the color; you can always repaint after. Stick with these tips and you’ll be able to enjoy a comfortable viewing area and great looking movies.

By: Dennis McLaughlin
