The cinema is a good place to watch movies and relax. This is because you watch the movie in a wide screen with sound that can make you easily get lost in the movie scene. The picture and the sound is the most entertaining part of the cinema experience. However, if you can bring this technology home and with lesser expense, this is definitely something you will enjoy. This is the concept only a few American homes acquire in the past years. Lately late, however, a good number of American homes are starting to be less interested in going out of their abode to watch movies. This is due to the evolution of home theater system.

A simple home theater is easy to set up. All you need is a television set that measure bigger than 27 inches, a DVD player and three speakers. These are the basic components of a home theater. This may already give you the home entertainment you can enjoy with the almost theatrical experience. Why do I say almost, when I am sure you want the perfect feeling of a movie theater. This is because there are other equipments you might add to complete the home theater experience that will ensure a cinematic experience right in your own living room. As mentioned already, you may still enhance the three basic components by adding home entertainment furniture; however, everything is dependent on the budget you set for your home theater. The size of the room is another consideration of the complete package of your home theater.

A neat advice however by home theater experts is that you need to find a good size television set for you home theater set up. A good size does not mean the biggest you can find in the store. A good size television is dependent on the place in your house where you will set up the home theater. Big is not always good for you home entertainment system. It is a recommendation, however, that the television set should not be smaller than 27 inches. This is because the projection on a smaller television might be too inferior for your home theater.

Another recommendation is for you to find speakers that will give you the surround sound from high quality brand of speakers. In addition, you need to be sure that if you do not find the speaker that gives you enough surround sound, you need to be able to return it. There are speakers that sound good in the store but when you put it in a room, it may not sound well enough that will satisfy your requirement. If the store allows replacement, then that is a good deal. In addition, you may need to choose a good quality DVD player. It is however a belief by home theater experts that all DVD players deliver clear and crisp images, although there are those that promise a flicker-free picture, almost all DVD players provide this feature.

Knowing how big the room where you will set up your home theater will be the basis of how big the television needs to be. The size of the room is another consideration for the number of speakers. If the room is somewhat big, you may need more than the basic three speakers. Adding a subwoofer may also do good to achieve the best surround sound if your home theater is place on a huge room.

All these will give you the best home theater experience only a few in the earlier year’s experience. A home theater designer may be of big help in ensuring you will have the best home theater set up that will give you the best possible movie experience right in your own living room.

The television of years gone by has been, for the most part, replaced by the home theater system. A quality theater system can make your home viewing of television and movies much more enjoyable through the use of flat screen televisions, DVD/Blu-ray players and sound systems that can reproduce movie theater quality audio. And the use of digital technology has made these systems much more affordable for the average home owner.

The heart of any top-notch theater system is the view screen, and in today’s world of home electronics, nothing beats a large flat screen television. These televisions are available in multiple formats, including plasma, LED, and LCD varieties. Plasma screen TV’s are most often cited as being the best for crystal clear viewing pleasure. However, due to recent advancements that have been made in the industry, many LCD televisions offer an almost indistinguishable picture, but can do so with a much smaller price tag. And unlike plasma screen versions, LCD’s can be found in sizes that are smaller than 40 inches. This makes them better suited for the average household living room.

Movie quality audio reproduction is also important to a top notch home theater system. For most people, a simple receiver with a couple of desktop speakers is sufficient for their audio requirements. If, however, you want something that is capable of producing room shaking bass and crystal clear highs, a quality surround sound audio system is required. These systems can range in price considerably, depending on their components. However, for most systems a combination of quality receiver, two front speakers, two rear speakers and a subwoofer is more than adequate. But since the quality of these components can vary, it is important to do a bit of research before settling on any one system.

Many people will opt to install a number of other items in the search of the perfect home theater experience. It is becoming more common for homeowners to create a dedicated viewing room, complete with theater style furniture and in some cases even a concession stand. Theater style lighting and even curtains are sometimes used in an attempt to recreate a true to life theater experience.

By: Jennifer R Scott

Home theaters aim to bring the atmosphere of a movie theater into comfort of your home. These systems provide better screen and sound technology than standard television setups, and in some cases go as far as fully replicating the experience of a movie theater-complete with red drapes, popcorn machines, and lighting.

All of these accessories are not absolutely necessary, of course, but they show some of the options available. The basic components for a home theater system are a wide screen of some kind, a series of speakers designed for high sound quality, and a projector. From there, the options become more individualized and particular.

If you are considering installing a theater in your home, there are a few things you should think about before you get started. First, you need to determine which room in the house is the best fit. Common choices include unused basement space, a designated den area, or the family room. Most spaces can potentially work, but it is important to find the one that will be most comfortable for you.

Next, consider the acoustics of the room. Acoustics refers simply to the quality of sounds available. If you have a soundproofed room, that is an obvious choice. If not, it might be worth it to also install soundproofing. This can greatly improve the sound quality of your system.

Most theater systems use at least five speakers to create the effect of surround sound. These speakers vary in size and quality. A mid range amplifier and speakers is probably the best fit for a home. Along with the sound quality, you will need to consider the visual portion of you theater. The majority of home theaters use one of the following types of screens: liquid crystal (LCD), plasma and projection. LCD screens are useful because they provide viewing angles from most corners of the room. Plasma screens produce the best pictures in rooms without any natural light.

Projection screens are often popular for the simple reason that they most effectively replicate the kind of screen experience you get at a movie theater. If you go this route, you have two screen options: permanent and pull-down. Permanent screens are fixed on the wall and meant to provide a viewing surface that is entirely flat and immobile. Pull-down screens can be installed in a wider variety of places around the home, but the picture they provide tends to be a little less enhanced than permanent screens.

Remember, bigger screens do not invariably translate into a clearer image. The size of the screen you choose should be complementary to the room in which you plan to place it. If the screen is very large you will need to be further away for the best picture, and if the room is small, that is a less than ideal situation.

Of course, in order to watch something on that screen, you will need a projector. There are two basic types of projectors: film projectors and digital projectors. Film projectors require the use of film, which can sometimes be difficult for consumers to obtain. However, film does provide a high image quality. For cinephiles, film provides a viewing experience that cannot be replicated any other way.

A digital projector projects the image through a chip in the projector, and can be a little more accessible. Projectors can be mounted on the wall or ceiling, or they can be placed on something in the back of the room.

Lastly, there is the matter of seating. Some choose to install fixed seating; however, it is more common to use movable seating such as love sacs and small couches. Movable seats and adjustable lighting can make the transition from family room to theater relatively quick and seamless.

In addition to being able to replicate the movie theater experience at home, these rooms can also provide excellent ways of socializing over TV shows or sporting events. Whatever your intention, the sound, picture and overall atmosphere these theaters create is unrivaled compared to most home video setups.

By: Jennifer R Scott

Home theater rooms provide an escape for the whole family. With a high quality home theater system, you can enjoy a cinematic experience in your own home.

When constructing a home theater system, there are three main components you will need to know about. These main components are a DVD player, advanced surround sound speakers and a large television screen.

Most home theatres have a television of 27 inches or larger, but the newer models in wide-screen are more preferred for the home theater experience. The format used for most dvds is wide-screen. Wide-screen television offers a better shae for viewing films as the screen aspect better matches a cinema screen, also most of these TVs support high resolution. The images of these TV’s are greatly enhanced compared to those seen on older televisions. You have a number of choices: In addition to rear-projection TVs, there are LCD or plasma TVs that have flat-panel screens, and front-projection TVs that are used with separate screens, like movie projectors.

A DVD player is also key for great home theater rooms. If you like Blu-Ray and HD DVD formats, you should purchase a DVD player which can handle these systems. The vast majority of players are capable of playing recorded movies (CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs), MP3s, CDs and DVD movies. If you want to quickly and easily change through your CD or DVD collection a multi disc player is a necessity. The progressive scan feature of some DVD players leads to a clear, sharp image. Considering a DVD player/recorder, capable of recording television shows and movies onto black discs for you to watch later, may be a good idea. DVD-R recorders also have big hard drives to download and save your favorite shows.

When looking for a home theatre sound system, you will discover that a starter set with a center, left, and right speaker plus a subwoofer for bass will work well. Look in audiovisual magazines for reviews on the best rated speakers. Reviews on the best rated speakers are usually included in audiovisual magazines. If you can, preview the sound of the speakers you want before buying them so that you can determine if they have the kind of audio you need. Take your time and visit several different stores before making your final choice.

Todays home theater rooms can be a great escape if they are planned out correctly. You want to put together the best system possible so that you can really relax and enjoy the feeling of your home theater. You must understand what equipment best fits your needs, research your options, thus ensuring that you purchase the best equipment. Forethought about your home theatre will get you a better result and save money.

By: Lee Dobbins

Home Theater – Out of the box

What has made the home theater experience more accessible and affordable for more people in recent years is the emergence of what the industry now calls “cinema in a box”. This is a great option for the home-theater novice, those in apartments or renters as it is most cost effective.

For as little as a few hundred dollars, you can enjoy basic cinema sight and sound. You need to look around for all the latest specials in this area. Just go into your local shop and ask about “cinema in a box”.

For those on a budget this provides an ideal way to create a home theatre from scratch. Instead of having to choose and buy expensive separate components, you get all the equipment you need for one fixed price.
Will the home theater fit in my room?

Where you decide to put the home theatre is just as important as the equipment itself. The position, size of the room, along with how many windows it has, will influence your cinema experience to some extent. Large, uncovered windows and wooden floors will detract from the big screen as it will introduce the unwanted ‘glare’ factor. It would be a great idea to hang heavy curtains to reduce this glare and to lay carpet in the proposed cinema to eliminate noise reflection.

Square rooms are the worst for home cinema because sound waves bounce off the rear wall. So a rectangular or odd-shaped room will be much more suitable when it comes to sound if that is possible.

Several manufacturers now offer a solution to this in their home-theatre systems that will automatically balance the sound between all speakers, making it easier for the home-theatre novice.

So where is home theater headed in the future? Wireless! Actually it is already here so keep your eyes peeled for more news on that!

By: Steve Knowles
